The Fallen Orders

After the collapse of the Brotherhood's kingdom, the Black Order gained infamy for defeating three of its fellow Orders in a short lived but brutal civil war culminating in the Battle of Black Cross, from whence the Black Order took its name and sigil. The survivors of the Battle took an oath never to speak of the acts of kinslaying they committed that day.

And yet when the Dark swept into the Brotherhood's old lands, and the dead knights at Black Cross rose from their graves to do the bidding of new and terrible masters, the warriors of the Black Order realised their sins would return to haunt them.

This is an early work-in-progress of the first of a unit of Revenant Knights for my Undead army for Kings of War. In-game, it's likely they'll be fielded as Soul Reaver cavalry, the more elite statline of the Soul Reavers reflecting the particularly powerful dream of undeath that was used to reanimate these knights.

For this first test model, I took a GW revenant cavalry model and simply added an MDF base from Sarissa, a Teutonic Knight helm from Fireforge, and a metal shield I had lying around (I think from Black Tree Designs but it could easily have been another Fireforge shield).

More to come! There's quite a lot of character in this model and I hope to continue that throughout the whole unit - at present I'll be running them as a Troop (5 models) but will upgrade them to a Regiment (10 models) if they perform well. I hope to give each revenant knight a recognisable character tying him to a distinct Order in his former life.
